Our little girl

She was a sweet little 2-year-old-girl with Down Syndrom. She was slow to learn talking and walking, but very good at communicating what she wanted and to notice the right moment for a funny face. Do not ever think these kids are not smart! We saw by ourselves how smart and sweet and also persistent she was, as long as it was interesting for her. Just like any other kid. Better than anyone, she knew her limits, and we did not know that.

As many of the kids with Down Syndrom, she had a Heart Disease, which made her vulnerable to other problems, and her fragile health also contributed to make the things more difficult for her. She had then, a pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it was too much for her little body.

After two years and eight months of fun, stress, laughs and tears, she passed away on July 3rd, 2010. She will always be our little girl and we miss her a lot.

Oh Stefania, I am so sorry for your loss. Your little girl is awesome. I am very glad that she enjoyed her life with her family who loves her so very, very much. I am thinking warm thoughts for you and your family today and will pray (even though we have never met) that God will be close to you and fill your heart with His comfort and presence and grace.

I came over from Sew Mama Sew to answer your question about the zipper. Because the pencil case has a lining, you'll probably have to insert the zipper right at the end if you want to connect the lining to the outer layer. Otherwise, if you don't mind exposed seam allowances, you can omit the lining altogether, and just sew the zipper in before you even attach the piping and circular end pieces.
